In 2019, the two founders of Corail, Paul Guedj

and Alexis Troccaz, had one ambition: make a pair

of trainers from plastic bottles collected from the

Mediterranean and coastline near Marseille. They

are both passionate about trainers and outraged

by the amount of waste on the beaches. They

launched the “Nique pas ta mer (Don’t fuck up your

sea)” operation working with fisherman to collect

waste floating at sea with nets dragging behind

the boats. They then designed a pair of trainers

that integrated what they had collected in the sole,

upper and even the linings and laces. For the style,

they contacted Agnès b, another sea lover.

The sun, the light, the cool atmosphere... Marseille is a

dream of a place. But the sea pollution? Not so much.

This year, the cult film Le Grand Bleu is celebrating its

thirtieth anniversary, but it’s pretty clear that we can’t

still dive in the Mediterranean with the same amount

of pride.

The sea mobilises a great deal of attention and has

become the symbol of the ecological catastrophe about

to hit us. Charity projects helping save the oceans are

too many to count. Agnes b and Corail understand this.

They came together to reach the widest audience and

demonstrate their engagement together. All cosmetics

brands know the sea has (re)generative properties. It’s

now up to fashion brands to use it for their (re)birth.
