Communication: making the sorting process simpler in your area
Sorting is the first step towards a more circular economy.
Sorting needs to become a natural habit for users. To accelerate the process, Refashion can provide tools and support your communication initiatives at local level.
Read on to find out more!

It all starts with sorting
As a local authority, you have a key role to play in conveying the right messages around the sorting of used textiles and footwear.
The five fundamental messages below will help you to establish sorting as a natural habit. You can send these messages out through your website, a local sorting guide or any other medium aimed at the general public.
1 Sorting instructions
All clothing, household linen and footwear can be sorted, even if damaged. Items must be clean and dry, placed in a closed bag, with shoes tied in pairs.
2 Refashion signage
Industry logo: this logo should be included with your sorting media to give the industry greater visibility.

3 Drop-off points
Provide the addresses of voluntary drop-off points in your area, or provide a link to the national Refashion map.
4 Destination of the CHF collected
Briefly explain that most textiles will be reused or recycled, depending on their condition.
5 Repair rather than replace
Encourage local people to extend the service life of their clothing and footwear by having them repaired.
When you send out these five key messages through your website and/or sorting guide, you become eligible for an annual grant of €1,000 to support your communication activities.
