Encouraging local repairs

Repairs are one of the main ways to extend the life of clothing and footwear!

As a local authority, you play an essential role at local level in helping people adopt more responsible consumer habits.

By supporting repairs, you are helping to extend the life of clothing and footwear, reducing waste, and showcasing local know-how

As a player on the ground, you can drive this change!

The Repair Bonus: a practical initiative to encourage repair rather than replacement

In 2023, Refashion introduced the Repair Bonus to make repairs more affordable for everyone.

The Repair Bonus is a financial aid deducted directly from the invoice issued by an approved professional.

  • It may total up to €25, depending on the type of repair (hole, seam, closure, resoling, etc.),
  • The bonus is valid across a network of approved repairers (clothing repair shops and shoemakers) covering the whole of France,
  • It is not means-tested.

This initiative is financed through the Repair Fund, managed by Refashion as part of the organisation of EPR for clothing and footwear. The goal is to increase the volume of clothing and footwear repaired in France by 35% between now and 2028.

Turnkey tools at your disposal

You have a key role to play in spreading the message, to ensure that as many people as possible can gain access to this scheme.

We have designed two communication kits, available on your extranet:

1 Kit for the general public

To inform your users

The kit allows you to communicate on the Repair Bonus and to encourage good habits: repair rather than replacement.

2 Kit for repairers

To gain the support of local repairers

The greater the number of approved professionals in your area, the easier it will be for users to access the Repair Bonus. With this kit, you will be able to explain the process for joining the network of approved repairers.

Through the Refashion support schemes, we are able to provide financial support for initiatives seeking to raise awareness around repairs!

Finding professional repairers

Help users to find repair shops by including a link on your media to our map of approved repairers across France.
