Refashion launches its experiments on Material Sorting & Preprocessing and Recycling

Starting in September, Refashion is relaunching its Material Preparation and Recycling Experiments.

These experiments aim to connect the various stakeholders in the sector – sorting operators, material preparers and recyclers – registered on Refashion's Recycle platform, around concrete trials of oversorting and material preparation of post-consumer textiles and footwear.

A clear objective: to accelerate textile and footwear recycling

The aim of these experiments is to actively contribute to the development and deployment of material preparation and recycling solutions for used textiles and footwear that cannot be reused.

Based on the specifications of recycling processors, these campaigns will enable recycling processes to be tested, adjusted and made more reliable. Ultimately, they will help to identify and prioritise the recycling sectors to be industrialised in France and Europe, thereby strengthening the sector's autonomy and circular performance.

The principle behind the experiments

The scope covers the entire value chain:

  • On the sorting and material preparation side: oversorting, material preparation, quality control and shipment of materials according to defined specifications.

  • On the recycling processors' side: at a minimum, quality control of the materials received and, where possible, recycling tests.

These steps create an operational bridge between sorting and recycling, ensuring consistency and quality of materials throughout the process.
