Kane footwear shoes recycling program with Lava Rubber – Ecotextile News

A US footwear brand has launched a new recycling project which turns unwanted shoes into yoga and changing mats.

Kane Footwear claims the recycling programme offered to buyers of its Revive slip-on shoes will keep about “five pounds of scrap out of the landfill” per mat.

Customers can obtain a prepaid shipping label from the company and then send their used shoes to Lava Rubber, a rubber recycler and manufacturer, who will ground them down into flakes and mix them with rubber wetsuit waste to turn the combined waste into the new products.
