The Recycle Platform: 5 years supporting textile/footwear recycling stakeholders across Europe

Launched in 2021, Recycle by Refashion is a European digital platform that connects professionals involved in the recycling of post-consumer textiles and footwear across Europe, helping to develop viable and sustainable industrial end-markets.

The Recycle platform is fully aligned with the mission of the eco-organisation: to empower all stakeholders to take action and mobilise in order to transform the sector towards a circular economy model.

A European ecosystem taking shape

Today, Recycle brings together 430 committed players, with 70% based in France and 30% across the rest of Europe  - reflecting both the momentum and the growing maturity of the textile/footwear recycling sector at European level.

Among these stakeholders:

  • 45% recycling solution providers, offering solutions (technologies, equipment, industrial facilities, etc.) and supplying semi-finished and finished products to the textile, plastics, transport and construction industries.
  • 22 % suppliers of textile and footwear feedstock, mainly sorting operators contracted with Refashion, holding post-consumer feedstock collected from households. 
  • 22 % client industries, reintegrating recycled materials either in closed-loop systems (textiles and footwear) or in open-loop applications across other industrial sectors (automotive, construction, plastics, furniture, etc.).
